RE: Health and Sanitation inspeetions, SprinEfield, Oregon
Dear Sally:
In reply to your letter of March 4, L98Ot we would be very happy to make
joint inspection of complaints where jurisdiction may be questionable and
both aqrencies have an interest in resolving a prohlem. This is particularly
true in housing comPlaints.
We often respond to housing comrplaints because people believe their
problem Ls a "health hazard" and their problem often is health related. Sorne
peopte file ccmplaints against this office with the countlr commissioners
office for even trying to refer them to another agency. This is difficult
to argue against since the citizens of Springfield pay county taxes also
and have the rights to our service.
When sanitation and housing code violations EIre involved in a complaint
we will contaet you for a joint inspection. We should also get toglether in
the near future and discuss complaints in general and perha}rs establish a
policy in this area. Please contact us if you wish to do this.
Sincerely,
JOriN C. STONER, R.S., PROGRAM MANAGER
