RE: Courtesy Inspection at 844 Mi11 Street, Springfield, Oregon
Dear Mr. Gregor:
At the request of the tenant, Gary Lee Busden, the Springfield Building Safety
Division conducted a Courtesy Inspection at the above referenced address to
verify structural deficiencies indicated by the tenant.
The inspection revealed the following items which do not meet the ninimun
standards of the Springfield Housing Code.
STRUCTURAL AND LIFE SAFETY
1) The 4 x 4 support post in front of unit #25 is missing. This post is in-
tended to provide structural support of the 2nd floor landing and st-air
case serving the uPstairs units.
2) The guardrail upper post is rotted and sp1it, no longer providing support
for the handrail.
3) The stairway stringers and handrails are deteriorated and pulling apart on
all stairways serving the two buildings located at the rear (north west)
portion of the complex.
The above listed conditions create a situation where the daily use of the upper
level exitways cannot be continued in a safe manner. Your cooperation in elimi-
nating these potentialLy haza-rdous items in an expedient manner will be appreci-
ated.
The Building Safety Division will check on your progress in 30 days fron the date
of this letter. Please direct all inquiries regarding these items to the Spring-
field Building Safety Division at 726-3753.
