Dear I"1r. Goddard:
The Building Division of the City of Springfield Department of Public trIorks made
an occupancy inspection December 12, L917, on t,he building located at 1198 llohavilc
Boulevard, in Springfield, Oregon, pursuant to your request to change the use of
the building from a service station to a muffler shop.
Buildings used for muffler shops are classified by the Uniform Building Code as
an E-4 occupancy. This will require major changes in the building, i.e., all
exterior waIls shal1 be of one-hour fire resistanE construction, all electrical
receptacles lower than l8rt off the floor shall be removed etc.
A complete set of drawings must, be submitted to the Building Division, showing
how the building will be remodeled to meeE all the requirements of an E-4 oc-
cupancy, and approved before a Building Permit will be issued. I would suggest
you contact an architect, engineer, or designer for a preliminary study of the
required changes.
A11 applicable permits sha11 be obtained before work begins and alI work must be
done according to applicable Codes and inspected before a certificaLe of com-
pliance is issued.
