RE: Inspection Results of Plurnbing system at 1028 Mi11 Street
Dear I{s. Ivlorris :
On September 29, 1980, City of Springfield Plumbing Inspector, Roy Bordeaux,
perfo^rmed a courtesy plunbing inspectio_n dt 1028 [{i11 Street, Springfield,
br"gon as required ty-the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Most of the fol-
loring items occur as a result of current remodeling on the structure.
The followi-ng deficiencies were noted during this inspection:
1) The water heater has been enclosed by partition wal1s with no access pro-
vided. The access is to be a ninimum of 24 inches wide and of a suffi-
cient size to be able to remove the water heater per applicable codes
(1g76 oregon State Plumbing speciality code, section 1311).
2) The water heater does not have a drain pipe. In order to comply with
applicable codes the drain pipe needs to be- 3/4 inch in size and con-
tinuous fron the pressure refi-ef valve to the outside (1'976 Oregon State
Plunbing Speciality Code, Section 605) '
S) The automatic washing machine has been relocated so that the plumbing con-
nections for the hot and cold water connection and the stand pipe drain
are made by extended hoses running through an intervening wal1' This
causes the plumbing connections to be unaccessible in the laundry (1976
Oregon State Plumbing Speciality Code, Section 604) '
4) The vent connection pipe for the clothes dryer is laid across the floor of
the laundry room and terminates at the inside of a window. This vent needs
to be installed per the manufactures instructions and all applicable require-
ments of the 1S7^S 6regon State Mechanical Speciality Code and Fire and Life
Safety Code.
5) A portion of the kitchen wall is open around a shampoo bow1. This opening- n"ud, patched in an approved *urrrr", in order to comply with applicable codes
(7g76 oregon state Plumbing Speciality code, section 309(a)).

b)The kitchen sink leaks around the riru because of a bad seal. This seal will
need to be replaced in order to meet the requirements of the 1976 Oregon
State Plumbing Speciality Code, Section 309(1), and the 1973 Uniform Housing
Code, as adopted by the City of Springfield, Section 504(9).
If you have any questions concerning this matter please contact the City of Spring-
field Building Division at 726-3753.
