r spoke with you August 4th regarding your letter ofJuly 28th. r contacted Mr. Branch for a report on thestructure in question. f am enclosing a copy of Mr.Branches report.
After receiving lrour letter of Jury 28th, r informedMr. carl sabin, who serves as a caretaker on our prop-erty, that the buildinq in question was unsafe and that
lnyone storing boats, campers, or equipment be so noti-fied.
currently, Mr. Gary Martin | 444 North 33rd, springfield,oregon, (phone 747-3453), is leasinq one of our ruira-ings. Mr. Martin has indicated that he is in the con-struction business and he is desirous of using "the shedstructure" in question. r have tord Mr. Martin that hewill need to make the improvements to the ,,shed.,, andcheck with the city as to assure us that it is consider-ed safe.
r certainly appreciate Mr. Branch and your willingnessto keep us advised on the condition of our property.

On August 4, l?[l7 our firm was contacted to perform an inspection
of a 6O' x 2:OO' wood framed pole building at the above addresg to
comply with the letter from the Springfield Building Department.
An inspection ulas, performed on September 23, LSAT with the fol-
lowing findings:
1) ROOFING: Eomposition asphalt with several old layers;
2' SHEATHINE BOARDS: Visually inspected from the floor level
and found them to be in horizontal and vertical alj.gnment
and with wet stains;
3) puRLINS: About 5O7. of the 2 x lo" rafters were permanent-
1y out of vertical and/or horizontal alignment;
4, BRIDEINE FOR PURLINS: Bridging does not comply with to-
day's code (10' vs. B');
S) BRAtrING: I'lost of the designed vertical and horizontal
bracing has been damaged, altered or removed;
6) TRUSSES: 3 or more are out of vertical and/or horizontal
alignment but are functioning and salvageable subject to a
satisfactory dry rot and bug inspectionl

B) CBLUI'INS: Columns have rotted and weathered and are on the
point of colaPse;
9) FOOTINGS: Footings cannot be inspected due to the con-
crete column encaseroelnt but there are ncl indications of
unanticipated settlement concrete slab floor'

Per our conversation this date I believe the best solu-tion to not only make a final determinaLion as to thedisposition of the unsound building on our property butto the future possibilities and use of our property
would be to meet with you as well as any other interest-
ed officials of your city government. I would welcome
any sugEestions.
I am currently making arrangements to fty to Por:tland on
Sunday, December 6th, to rent a car and drive to Eugene,
Oregon on December 6th. I am asking for room confi-rma-
tion at the Valley River Inn in Eugene from December 6th
thru December 10th.
I would appreciate meeting with you and any other offic-ia1 on December 7th. I only ask that my trip remain.can-fidential as I would like to see our property in its cur-rent condition w-rthout our caretaker and others trying toclean it up for r,ry visit.
