REQUESTED:
Interview two applicants for the Springfield Police Advisory Committee to fill the
faith community position vacancy.
ISSUE STATEMENT:
Two (2) candidates have applied for the faith community vacancy on the
Springfield Police Advisory Committee created by previous resignation.

DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
The City received two applications for the open faith community position on the
Springfield Police Advisory Committee after a five week process. The applications
include:
Barry Lind, pastor, Northwood Christian Church
Ann Eikenberry, Oversight Council member, Springfield Church of the Brethren
The Springfield Police Advisory Committee is currently a ten member volunteer committee appointed by Council, consisting of four neighborhood/citizen-at-large
representatives, one School District 19 representative, one Willamalane Park and
Recreation District representative, two representatives of the local business community, one cultural minority community representative, and one faith
community representative. Committee membership is a four-year term, limited at two consecutive terms.
The faith community position is open due to a prior representative resignation.
The Council decision on the faith community position appointment is scheduled for
the Regular Meeting of Monday, April 15, 2019.
