Glenwood Citizens Advisory Committee Appointments - Chair Frank Cross called the meeting of the Citizen Involvement Committee to order. Ms. Markarian recalled that the commission directed staff to seek additional applicants for the Glenwood Citizen Advisory Committee and referred the commission to the ten applications included in the meeting packet. There were four committee vacancies. She said staff reviewed the applicants and made some preliminary recommendations, and she further reviewed that applicant Kara Smith be appointed to a new position for a Glenwood resident. She noted that Ms. Smith was a renter, which was a point of view that staff unsuccessfully sought in the initial recruitment for members. Chair Cross commended the quality of the applicants. Ms. Markarian reviewed the staff recommendation that the commission also appoint Eric Howard, Bill Woods, Susan Ban, and Ken Schmidt. Commissioners expressed general support for the proposed candidates. Commissioner Moore questioned why Glenwood had a 97403 zip code rather than a Springfield zip code. City Attorney Joe Leahy indicated that the post office would not change the zip code without a vote. Ms. Markarian observed that all of Glenwood was also in the 4J School District. Chair Cross called for a vote on the five proposed appointees. Commissioners indicated unanimous support for the staff recommendation. 5:0:0 with one absent 2.
