Following a recommendation by the State Library of Oregon’s LSTA (Library Services Technology Act) Advisory Council, the State Library Board recently voted unanimously to award For Every Child, A Library the LSTA Project of the Year for fiscal year 2018. This project provides no-cost library cards to Springfield Public School students and their families who live outside the City limits. This program allows all Springfield Public School students to access the library and its resources, including specific curriculum support materials. 2018 was the third year that Springfield Public Library received the LSTA grant for the project, allowing the Library to establish the program and find sustainable funding to maintain the program into the future. Every member of the library staff played a role in making this program a success.
