Code Compliance: As the permit holder for a constructjon project. the homeowner is responsible
for notirylng buiiding orficials ai the appropriate times, so that the required inspectlons can be
performed. Homeowners are also responsible lor resolving any failure to meet code requii'ements
that may be found through inspectlons.
Property Damage and Liability lnsurance: Homeowners actjng as their own contractors should
contact their insurance agent to ensure adequate insurance coverage for accidents and omissions,
such as falling tools, paint overspray, water damage from pipe punctures, flre, or work that must be
redone. Liability lnsurance must be sufficient to cover injuries to persons on the job site who are not
otherwise covered as employees by Workers Compensation lnsurance.
Expertise: HomeowneTs should make sure they have the skills to act as their own general
contractor, and the expertise required to coordinate the work of both rough-in and fnish traoes.

Was there any engineering that went along with this? These items need addressed:
1) I used the %" scale that is represented on the plans and I can't find a way that this will meet prescriptive code with
how little wall remains. lf you have an engineer involved, they can run the math and with various mechanical
connectors & hold downs for reinforcement, I bet they can make this design work. I can't approve these plans out of
the prescriptive code book (2017 oRSc).
2) I need to know what is happening with the roof framing in this area. I need a roof framing plan to show the
size/species/grade of the lumber being used and I am sure that one end bears on the same exterior wall as the proposed
3 double door openings, but what is happening at the other end and what is that span? I need this to determine
whether the proposed double 2x6 headers will sufficiently carry the live load and dead load of the roof. lf you have been
working with an engineer, they likely have addressed this also.
