We have seen him mature from post-grad to professional to supervisor to senior manager. He has developed into a leader who is well organized, has vision, and is not afraid of the tough conversations or issues. Matt is a significant asset to his staff, peers, the Environmental Services Division, the MWMC, Development and Public Works, and the citizens of Springfield. We are very fortunate to have Matt on the Team. • Matt has been involved in the following significant projects: RiverBend Medical Center, Marcola Meadows, led the Stormwater Facility Master Plan project, and Oversaw completion of MWMC plant expansion, just to name a few. • Tom Boyatt says “I have been both a supervisor and colleague of Matt’s and am most impressed with his intelligence, integrity, drive and passion for his work on behalf of the citizens of Springfield. This is a fellow that does not give up easily, is always open to new information or a change in direction, and works hard to support his staff to be successful and to grow”. • Matt is goal-oriented and enjoys the outdoors. He has found places to go snowboarding in Oregon during every month of the year. • Matt and his family harvested 21 quarts of honey from their beehives this year. • As the Environmental Services Division (ESD) Manager, Matt meets with ESD staff on a regular basis maintaining communications on current information and future plans to ensure that staff is informed. • Matt continues to be someone staff can go to for advice. He cares a lot about his work even though he tries to downplay that through humor. • The regional program is staffed by 93 full-time employees (77 in Eugene and 16 in Springfield). Over-time Matt has worked successfully to establish and maintain positive relationships with regional staff at all levels. • Matt maintains his leadership role in a professional manner, while being approachable and supportive of staff and the customers we serve.
