Amendments to the Springfield Development Code– Willamalane Park and Recreation District is requesting amendments to the Springfield Development Code, which would allow wellness centers to be developed as a secondary use to community recreation centers in community parks. Special use standards for the wellness centers would be adopted. Language is also proposed to be added to the Springfield Development Code to define community recreation centers and wellness centers. These amendments are being requested to allow Willamalane and McKenzie Willamette Hospital to develop a wellness center adjacent to the Willamalane Park Swim Center on G Street west of Mohawk Blvd. (Summers) B. Discretionary Use / Site Plan - Hagey/Trusty Journal Number 2001-10-0203 – The applicant is requesting approval to operate a pet crematorium from an existing industrial building. Pets will be picked up in a panel truck, stored in a walk in freezer if necessary, and cremation in a professional grade incinerator. The use will involve occasional animal drop off, provision of reading materials and customer urn sales at the site. In accordance with the Heavy Industrial zoning district, the request requires Planning Commission approval based upon discretionary use criteria contained in Article 10 of the Springfield Development Code (SDC) and the applicant of Site Plan Review provisions contained in Article 31 of the SDC.
