PC Agenda –January 4, 2000 1 SPRINGFIELD CITY HALL * CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS * 225 FIFTH STREET * 541 726-3753 Tuesday January 4, 2000 7:00 pm REGULAR SESSION 1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE – 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – 3. REPORT OF COUNCIL ACTION – 4. BUSINESS FROM THE AUDIENCE – 5. QUASI-JUDICIAL PUBLIC HEARING – A. Discretionary Use/Fences – Jo. No. 99-10-269 The sites are located at 6891 and 6935 Main Street. Due to vehicle accidents, the City Council directed City staff and ODOT to work on solving the safety issues on Main Street around 68th and 70th Street area. City staff concluded that 69th Place would be extended from its previous terminus to Main Street and a traffic signal installed. The City Council approved the project and directed staff to work closely with the residents around the project to make it work. Negotiations took about a year. One of the issues was security. The City and ODOT proposed to remove mature trees along Main Street and acquire more right-of-way from the property owners in order to provide right turn lanes and vision clearance at the corners. The residents needed at least six-foot fences along the property lines to provide safety and security and to not take more of the useable property from them.
