COMMITTEE FOR CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT
1. Glenwood Citizen Advisory Committee Appointments- In October 2008, the Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI) reviewed and approved the Citizen
Involvement Plan for the Glenwood Refinement Plan Update Project. The Plan included staff’s recommended categories of participants for the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC). The committee’s
purpose is to provide input, feedback, and guidance to staff, and to forward recommendations to the Planning Commission.
In November 2008 and January 2009, the CCI appointed twenty members to the CAC. In May 2009, Laurie Adams, a CAC member in the Lender/Realtor category, resigned for person reasons. The CAC Operating
Agreement, adopted by the CAC in March 2009, states that “In the event of voluntary resignation or
termination or termination during the course of the project, the CCI may appoint replacement members to the CAC…... The CCI will wait until there are a minimum of two vacancies to recruit replacement members.”
In July 2010, staff reviewed CAC member attendance records and contacted those members who had missed
more than two consecutive meetings to determine continued interest. One of the members in the Glenwood Resident category, Kara Smith, stated that she would no longer participate due to scheduling conflicts.
In August 2010, staff sent information about the lender/Realtor vacancy and the Glenwood Resident vacancy to the CAC and the project’s Interested Parties list. And an announcement was published in the Register
Guard. (Markarian)
