Glenwood Citizen Advisory Committee Appointments and Recruitment - During the October 7, 2008 work session, the Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI) reviewed and approved the Citizen Involvement Plan for the Glenwood Refinement Plan Update Project. The Plan included staff’s recommended categories of participants for the Advisory Committee (CAC). The committee’s purpose is to provide input, feedback, and guidance to staff, and to forward recommendations to the Planning Commission. Staff initiated recruitment of committee members following the work session, and initial recruitment concluded on November 6, 2008. During the week of October 15, 2008, staff posted information regarding the Glenwood project and the Citizen Advisory Committee on the Planning Division website. Staff also advertised for the committee positions via a media advisory to the Register Guard on October 15, 2008, and again on October 27, 2008. In addition, staff mailed approximately 1,550 postcards to Glenwood residents, property owners, and other interested parties on October 23, 2008. Staff also posted announcements regarding the Citizen Advisory Committee on the listserves for undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty/staff associated with the Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Planning, Public Policy, and Management Departments at the University of Oregon. Staff sent email invitations to a range of interested parties, including, but not limited to: Chamber of Commerce, Community Development Advisory Committee, Eugene Association of Realtors, American Society of Landscape Architects, Goal 1 Coalition, Homebuilders Association of Lane County, 1000 Friends of Oregon, Housing Policy Board, LandWatch Lane County, Lane Metro Partnership, Springfield Board of Realtors, and Southwest Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Only ten applications for the Citizen Advisory Committee have been received as of the date of this memorandum. While at least one person has applied for all but two of the categories of participants, staff would like to continue recruiting to fill the Citizen Advisory Committee. Therefore, staff feels it will be most effective if the Committee for Citizen Involvement appoints members to the Citizen Advisory Committee based upon the applications received to date, so that staff can conduct more focused recruitment of the remaining positions. 2.
