COMMITTEE FOR CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT
1. SPRINGFIELD JUSTICE CENTER CITIZENS INVOLVEMENT PROGRAM –
In November 2004, the voters of Springfield approved a $28.6 million bond measure in order to fund the construction of a new Springfield Justice Center. The measure included funds for the
design and construction of a 100-bed City Jail, Police Department, Municipal Courts, and City
Prosecutor’s office. The Justice Center will be constructed on the site of the existing Police and Courts facility and possibly on adjacent parcels. It is anticipated that the construction of the new
facility will be completed in 2008.
Because of the location and the nature of the Justice Center project, the City Council requested
that a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) be formed to help guide project design. Staff is seeking guidance from the CCI to assist in developing the citizen involvement program.
