ACTION REQUESTED: Adopt or reject the following resolution: A RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT PERMIT PROJECT P31038; R STREET SEWER EXTENSION. ISSUE STATEMENT: This permit project was engineered by Boeger and Associates, LLC and constructed by H&J Construction, Inc. The work on this public improvement project, the final inspection, paperwork, and approval has been completed by city staff and the developer’s consulting engineer. The City Council must formally accept the work on the project for the City's use, operation, maintenance, and ownership. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Resolution DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: This project consisted of installation of approximately 265 feet of public sanitary sewer, and 7 sewer laterals to homes. The developer of the project, Geraldine Dykstra, completed the improvements as agreed upon with the Public Improvement Project Permit. All work has been inspected by Boeger and Associates, LLC and the City Engineer and found to be satisfactory. The final cost of the project was $97,021.90 for construction and $26,490.00 for engineering and field inspection, for a total cost of $123,511.90. As the line was being extended to a pocket of homes already annexed to the City, but unserved by public sanitary sewer, the City of Springfield participated in the project. The City with cooperation from the developer chose to have the sanitary sewer line extended beyond the developer’s property to provide future service connections to the remaining six properties. The City participated by covering the construction, engineering and field inspection costs for 6/7ths of the project, totaling $105,867.34, and will be reimbursed at the time the remaining homes connect to sanitary sewer. The City will be responsible for future maintenance responsibilities of the sanitary sewer mainline and the public portion of the sanitary sewer laterals.
