Appoint Tina Patel as the SEDA Glenwood representative of the SEDA Budget Committee and Steve Moe as the SEDA Downtown representative of the SEDA Budget Committee. ISSUE STATEMENT: Applicants are being sought to represent SEDA Glenwood and SEDA Downtown where former committee members’ termed expired or have resigned. The recruitment for these vacancies opened on January 10, 2018 and closed on February 2, 2018. No candidates applied and recruitment was reopened and closed on March 2, 2018. The appointee for both SEDA Glenwood and SEDA Downtown will serve a three year term that will expire on December 31, 2020. ATTACHMENTS: Attachment 1 – Interview Questions Attachment 2 – SEDA Glenwood Tina Patel Application Attachment 3 – SEDA Downtown Steve Mo Application DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Springfield Economic Development Agency is requested to interview two applicants. Councilors may use any of the questions off the sample list or provide one of their own but should be consistent with their questions for all candidates. After interview and during regular session appoint Budget Committee members for SEDA Glenwood and SEDA Downtown. The City’s charge for the Budget Committee states an equal number of agency members and citizens is required (Citizen members may not be officers, agents or employees of the City, per ORS 294.336(4)). Why are you interested in serving on/continuing to serve on the SEDA Budget Committee? 2. Describe your professional and personal experience as it relates to your desire to become a committee member. 3. Describe your familiarity with the SEDA. 4. While all SEDA projects seem to have strong support from different areas of the community, it is often necessary to prioritize projects for budgetary reasons. How would you go about the task of establishing priorities among projects? 5. Often times the members of the SEDA Budget Committee have different opinions on how money should be spent.
