REQUESTED:
Approve the May 20,2008 Primary Election Report of Board of Canvassers and
Proclamation for the election for Springfield Mayor and Springfield City Council
positions for Ward 3, Ward 4, and Ward 6.
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
The City Attorney has forwarded for City Council approval, the Report of Board of
Canvassers and Proclamation for the May 20, 2008 Primary Election for the
election of Springfield Mayor and Springfield City Council positions for Ward 3,
Ward 4, and Ward 6.

We, the undersigned, constituting the Common Council of the City of Springfield,
A Municipal Corporation of the State of Oregon, Lane County, Oregon, acting as a Board
of Canvassers, hereby certify that we have received from the Lane County Election
Boards for the Primary Election held in the State of Oregon on May 20, 2008, the
abstract of the votes of ballot~ cast at said election of City of Springfield Mayor, City of
Springfield Councilor Ward 3, City of Springfield Councilor Ward 4, and City of
Springfield Councilor Ward 6, and we do hereby further certify that we have canvassed
the votes cast and that such votes cast for City of Springfield Mayor, City of Springfield
Councilor Ward 3, City of Springfield Councilor Ward 4, and City of Springfield Councilor

I, SID LEIKEN, Mayor of the City of Springfield, Oregon, do hereby certify that

the Springfield City Council, acting as the Board of Canvassers in accordance with the

, provisions of the Charter of the City of Springfield" and with the laws of the State of
Oregon, has canvassed the votes cast at the Primary Election held on May 20, 2008;
that SID LEIKEN was elected to the position of Mayor of the City of Springfield for a four
year term commencing January 1, 2009 and expiring December 31, 2012; that Terri
Leezer was el~cted to the position of Councilor representing Ward 3 of the City of
Springfield for a four year term commencing January 1, 2009 and expiring December
31, 2012; that Dave Ralston was elected to the position of Councilor representing Ward
4 of the City of Springfield for a four year term commencing January 1, 2009 and
expiring December 31, 2012; and, that Joe Pishioneri was elected to the position of
Councilor representing Ward 6 for a four year term commencing January 1, 2009 and
expiring December 31, 2012.
A copy of the official Abstract of Votes summarizing votes cast for such offices is
attached hereto. The original Abstract is on file in the office of the City Recorder.
BE IT FURTHER CERTIFIED that the total number of votes cast for each of the
