Appoint Jenny Hornby and Stacy Roth to the Springfield Museum Committee for a three year term starting April 1, 2018 and ending March 31, 2021. ISSUE STATEMENT: The Museum Committee is a new committee and these are the first four appointments. Per the Museum Committee Charge the term for each member is three years. At the November 6, 2017 Regular Session Meeting, the Council suggested that the first committee members have staggered appointments of two and three years so that all terms would not end simultaneously. ATTACHMENTS: ATT1 Museum Committee Charge ATT2 Hornby Application ATT3 Howard Application ATT4 Phelps Application ATT5 Roth Application DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: Three candidates applied during the first posting period for the Museum Committee that ended January 12, 2018. The posting was reopened and one additional candidate applied before the March 2, 2018 deadline. A total of four candidates applied for the four openings on the Museum Committee. Jenny Hornby, Adam Howard, Mary Beth Phelps, and Stacy Roth were interviewed by the Council on March 12, 2018. Consensus was to move forward with formal appointments for all the applicants at the March 19, 2018 Regular Meeting. The Council recommended Mr. Howard and Ms. Phelps be appointed to the two year terms beginning April 1, 2018 and ending March 31, 2020. Ms. Hornby and Ms. Roth were recommended for the three year terms beginning April 1, 2018 and ending March 31, 2021. Attachment 1 MUSEUM COMMITTEE CHARGE The Springfield Museum Committee was formed to support the Springfield Museum Curator. It is responsible for making recommendations for Museum exhibits and programs; assisting with implementation of exhibits and special events; assisting with community outreach and publicity. The Committee is responsible to the Library Board.
