Field Observations and Comments
As requested, met on-site with Chambers Construction and Egge Sand and Gravel representatives to observe
foundation footing excavations for the proposed buildings at the following locations: A,7 at 5, A,7 at 6, and A from 5 to
6. All excavations were performed using a Hitachi 270LC excavator with a smooth bladed bucket and all excavated
soils were hauled off site. The relalively undisturbed soils at the base of the excavations visually appeared to be native
clayey siltslsandy silts as described in our geotechnical report dated September 25, 1998. Depth of excavations
ranged from 6 to 7 feet below adjacent finished rock grade. Also performed compaction testing on the crushed rock
placed under the proposed footings mentioned above as well adjacent to other footings that have already been poured.
Results of those tests will be reported under separate cover. To the best of our knowledge, the work inspected above
was in accordance with the building department approved design drawings, specifications and applicable workmanship
provisions of the International Building Code.
