Chief Smith In response to your inqUiry, the Springfield Police Department IS the primary beneficiary of the
proposed 8 Street vacation For thiS reason, you or a Police Department representative should be prepared to
make a.brlef statement In support of the right-of-way vacation at the Planning Commission hearing tomorrow
evening (June 5) and at the upcoming City Council hearing on July 2 The Planning CommiSSion Chair will call for
testimony In favor of the vacation, and thiS will be the opportUnity to prOVide a verbal statement summarizing the
pOints outlined In your memo dated May 16, 2007 The memo you prOVided In support of the vacation IS
referenced In the staff report and attached In the Planning Commission packet It also will be Included In the City
Council packet for the July 2 meeting
