Richard Jones Staff Phone No: 541-744-4176 Estimated Time: Consent Calendar S P R I N G F I E L D C I T Y C O U N C I L Council Goals: Provide Financially Responsible and Innovative Government Services ITEM TITLE: PURCHASE OF POLICE VEHICLES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018 ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the purchase and authorize the City Manager to sign the contract for the procurement of five police patrol vehicles for fiscal year 2018. ISSUE STATEMENT: Each year the Police Department replaces patrol cars and other police vehicles which have served their useful life. In FY 2018, five patrol vehicles are in need of replacement for the Police Department. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Ford SUV Patrol Vehicle Purchase Agreement DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: Each year the Police Department replaces patrol vehicles and other vehicles which have served their useful life. For fiscal year 2018, the Police Department is requesting approval to purchase five patrol vehicles at a cost not to exceed $32,878.50 each, for a total of $164,392.50. Purchases for all vehicles will be made off the State purchasing contract; therefore, no bid process is required. The new patrol vehicles will continue to utilize Ford Interceptor SUV vehicles for regular patrol duty assignments. Four of the vehicles are due for replacement under the normal age and mileage replacement schedule and are budgeted in Fund 713 for replacement this year. One vehicle is being replaced due to an accident that totaled the vehicle. Police personnel were not at fault and compensation for the vehicle replacement is sought from a third party insurance company. Funds received from the insurance company for replacement of the damaged vehicle will be placed in Fund 713.
