ISSUE STATEMENT: The work on this project has been completed by Essex General Construction, Inc., and final inspection, paperwork and approval has been completed by City Staff. The Project is now ready for formal City Council acceptance of the work. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Resolution DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: This project consisted of interior renovations to approximately 3,000 SF of existing Springfield City Hall space to accommodate a new wellness center. The completed center includes four examination rooms, office and counseling spaces, restrooms, break room, custodial closet, lab area, reception counters, storage, and waiting area. The project included the modifications necessary to relocate existing fire department staff out of the construction area, demolition, general construction, rough and finish carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire suppression and structural seismic bracing. The Council authorized budget for this project included $284,784 in funds 420 and 707. During demolition and construction six issues came to light that required additional work in the amount of $6,904.49. This work addressed issues related to both unforeseen circumstances and minor modifications completed to assure better operational functionality and easier maintenance. As a result of these and other minor changes and Architectural and Engineering costs the final project was completed within 12.4% of budget with the final cost coming in at $319,979.74. All work done under this contract has been completed and inspected by the City Building Official, Fire Marshal and City Engineer and found to be satisfactory. RESOLUTION NO. _______ Acceptance WHEREAS, work on the improvement described below has been fully completed and has been duly inspected by the City Engineer of the City of Springfield: P11004; SPRINGFIELD WELLNESS CENTER, and WHEREAS, said work was found to be in conformance with the terms of the contract now on file in the City Recorder’s office; and, WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Engineer that this improvement project be accepted and permanently included in the improvement maintenance program of the City of Springfield. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows: 1) The Common Council of the City of Springfield does hereby accept for future maintenance the above-described project and accepts said improvement from the contractor involved. 2) This resolution shall take effect upon adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. Adopted by the Common Council of the City of Springfield, Oregon, this 19th day of June, 2017.
