ITEM TITLE: BID AWARD FOR PROJECT P21132; 2017 SANITARY SEWER REHAB - C
ACTION
REQUESTED:
Approve or reject the following motion:
TO AWARD THE SUBJECT CONTRACT TO EMERY AND SONS
CONSTRUCTION GROUP IN THE AMOUNT OF $623,415.50.
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
Three bids were received for this sanitary sewer rehab project. Contract award is
now necessary to enable work to proceed.

DISCUSSION/
FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
This project includes the placement of nine manholes and the corresponding
sanitary sewer pipe between 10th and 16th Streets and D and E Streets.
Approximately 1,070 linear feet of existing 10-inch D3034 SDR 35 PVC pipe and
1,793 linear feet of 8-inch D3034 SDR 35 PVC pipe will be replaced.
The following bids were received and opened on May 16, 2017:
Engineer’s Estimate $497,220.50
Emery and Sons Construction Group $623,415.50
H & J Construction, Inc. $635,174.00
Eugene Sand Construction, Inc. $719,732.00
Emery and Sons Construction Group is the low bidder on this project. While the
low bid was more than anticipated, sufficient funds are budgeted in the CMOM
Planning, account 850270, to allow award of the contract.
