As we discussed prior to application, it was my understanding that in the
Downtown District in the City of Springfield, a business would be allowed one
wall sign per building wall fronting a public street. It was my opinion that
the signage you were proposing would not be allowed. I told you that I would be
happy to discuss my understanding of this specific section of the Springfield
Sign Code with my supervisor, Dave Puent, and I would phone you once Mr. Puent
had made his determination. Mr. Puent agreed with my understanding of the Code,
that only one wall sig~,is allowed on the 10th Street side of your building. At
your request, I am not~fying you also in writing that at this time we are unable
to process your permit application.
I am enclosing the drawings which were submitted for approval, and an
application for the Board of Appeals if you choose to apply for a variance.
