RE:' O~cupancy Inspection At Southwest Corner of
City Center Market Building, 660 Main Street
Dear Mr. McCaskill:
On Wednesday February 15, 1978, the Building Division performed an inspection of
the City Center Market Building, an area formerly used as a commercial lease space.
This inspection has revealed the following items which require correction or re-
vision prior to occupancy of the space.
1. When the opening was cut into the brick wall fronting on Main Street, several
courses of brick were left at the top of the opening which are not adequately
supported. Removal of these brick,up to the existing lintel above is required~
or provide a new steel or concrete lintel ot support the brick above the opening.
The Building Code does not allow wood to be used for masonry support,
2, Submit a plan, for approval by the Building Division, of the proposed store-
front to ee constructed on the Main Street frontage including materials to be
used, sizes of openings, etc, Glazing materials in storefront doors and windows
within 48" of door sides must be of safety glass.
3. Remove all of the wood shavings which were previously used as insulation for
the cooler as they present an extreme fire hazard. Replace this material with an
approved fiberglass or mineral wood type non-combustible insulation where required.
.
4. Remove the existing floor joist system to lower the floor level of the space
for access from the Main Street sidewalk. O1anges in level must be by ramps not
exceeding 1 in 10 slope,
5. Prior to occupancy of this space, it must be re-wired to provide electrical
service as required by the National Electrical Code for the use intended, Verify
these requirements with the City Electrical Inspector when an occupancy type has
been determined.
6. Indicate means of heating this space, Obtain necessary permits if installation
of mechanical equipment is intended.
7. Restroom facilities must be available in the building for occupants of this
space. Indicate what facilities are available, and where they are located.
