8.256 1-5 Commercial Sign District.
Area Covered. The 1-5 Commercial
Sign District applies only to
properties designated CC and NC
that are within the geographically
bounded area located on Map No.2.
(1) Single Businesses. Each business
shall be permitted a maximum of
three wall signs totaling a maximum
of 350 square feet for all faces.
(2) Free Standing or Roof Signs.
Either one (1) free standing or roof
sign shall be permitted per approved
development area. The total area
permitted for each free standing
sign shall be 100 square feet for one
face or 200 square feet for two or
more faces, with a maximum height
of 20 feet above grade.
(3) Second Story Businesses. Each
business shall be permitted two wall
signs per business with a maximum
sign display area of 175 square feet.
(4) Additional Freestanding Sign.
Each approved development area
shall be permitted one additional
freestanding sign. The total area
permitted shall be 200 square feet
for one face and 400 square feet for
two or more faces, with a maximum
height of 65 feet above grade. The
additional freestanding sign that is
over 100 square feet shall be
installed at a minimum of 30 feet in
height from grade to the bottom of
the sign.
(5) Logos are exempt from permit
requirements provided the logo is
the logo of the business residing on
the premises, and provided the total
square footage of the permitted wall
signs and the logos do not exceed a
combined area of 350 square feet for
single story businesses and 175

To Request aD inspection call the 24 hour recording at 726-3769. All inspection requested before 7:00 a.m.
will be made the same working day, inspections requested after 7:00 a.m. will be made the following work
day.

Sign Location: To verify the location of the proposed sign.
Sign Footing: After excavation and forms are in place, but prior to concrete.
Sign Attachment: Method of mounting the sign to a structure or pole. Method of attachment of bolts or welds.
Sign Electrical: After connection is made but prior to energizing.
Sign Final: After all required inspections are conducted and approved and the sign installation is completed.

information hereon is true and correct, and I further certify that any and all work performed shall be done in accordance with
the Ordinances of the City of Springfield and the Laws of the State of Oregon pertaining to the work described herein, and
that NO OCCUPANCY will be made of any structure without permission of the Community Services Division, Building Safety.
I further certify that only contractors and employees who are in compliance with ORS 701.005 will be used on this project.
I further agree to ensure that all required inspections are requested at the proper time, that each address is readable from the
street, that the permit card is located at the front of the property, and the approved set of plans will remain on the site at all
times during construction.
