Snrilll.zfie1d - Site/Soils/Compaction Inspection - Job #31 ~ -05 As you requested a site soils investigations were performed at the above address on June 1,2005. All unsuitable fills, organic and other unsuitable material has been removed to a suitable grade. The natlve sOli IS a rocky silty clay/loam with a Unified Classification ofML-CL with a plastlcIty llldex of less than 20 This soil has a moderate potential for expansion (Holtz 1959). A mlllimum of 6 to 8 mches of compacted crushed rock is to be placed on the site with tracked excavatwn equipment. The material IS to be placed in lifts not exceed 8 inches where a greater depth of crushed rock is mstalled to bnng the SIte up to the desired elevation for construction purposes The crushed rock is to be further compacted with either a vibratory roller or plate compactor. On June 8, 2005, a compaction inspection was performed at the site where a maximum of 18 lllches of crushed rock was placed in lifts and compacted wIth a vibratory roller. The compaction of the gravel surface is greater than 95% ofa standard proctor, per ASTM D698. ThIS report is limIted to SOli conditions at the building site and slope stability is not within the scope of thIS investigation and report. Thank you for this opportunity to be of service.
