COM2005-00619 " '(2Wo. 27U1 Gt , Springfleld;-fJR 7 As requested, K & A Engineering, Inc. has evaluated the existing end supports, as constructed for beam B102. The supports consist of 3 - 2x6 DF/L no. 2 studs, nail-laminated, under each end of the 5 1/B-Inch glue laminated beam. The support studs are notched to accept the beam end, providing 3-lnches x 4 5-Inches bearing area Based on our calculations, the design bearing pressure at the beam, at each end, greater than allowable. We recommend modlfvlna the existina SUDDort bv the addition of one more 2x6. so that the total beanna area at each beam end exceeds 15.3B-sauare inches. According to our calculations, adding one more 2x6 Will increase the allowable end bearing above the actual design load Thank you for the opportunity to be of service Please call us if you have any questions Sincerely, Michael Remboldt, P E.
