RE: Aggregate Compaction Evaluation
Beecher Residence
lot on Horth Side of 855 Glacier in Cul-de-Sac
Springfield, Oregon
On December 23, 2002 a representative from F-ord-Ness-Fassbender. Inc. visited the subject
site to assess the building pad conditions with respect to the relative compaction of the
aggregate cover
Site testing of the 1"-0 crushed aggregate from Springfield Quarry indIcates that the thickness of
aggregate is approximately,4- to 8-inches oller the majority of the pad. In locations where trees
and their roots had been removed the aggregate is up to several feet thick. Based on site
testing and probing, the aggregate has been compacted to at least 95% of the materials
II U2Kimum dry density of 133,5 pet as determined by AASHTO T -99 methOd. The subgrade and
aggregate fill are sUitable for conventional residential style perimeter footing construction. We
recommend that all footIngs be remfQrced with at least two #4 steel relnforcmg bars, and that
surface water be dlreeted away from the foundations and not allowed to pond adjacent to
footings. We do not recommend allowing dump-trucks, concrete trucks or other heavy
equipment onto the building pad during wet weather
Sincerely,
Ford-Ness-Fassbender Inc.
