A VIsit was made to the site yesterday to ascertam condItIons and provide drrection for
subgrade condItlOns The folIowmg apply'
1 Lateral remforcmg bars need to be placed m the footmgs ill accordance with the
engmeenng drawillgs
2, Dowels connectillg the footIng and future stem wall need to be mstalled ill
accordance WIth the engmeenng drawmgs
3. The excavatIon should be clean and free from mud and deep standmg water
Some water is unaVOidable, and It WIll be necessary to place concrete to aVOid
mixmg WIth the surface water
4 A crushed rock subgrade layer IS not necessary Although thIS works to
mcrease the slIding coeffiCIent between the base of the footIng and clay-bearing
SOlIs, there IS a slab present, and opposmg subgrade structures, to resist the
shdmg forces
5 There IS some variation III the placement of the continuous honzontal
reinforcement The existing conditions are acceptable
