OR 97477 (503) 726.3753 FAX (503) 726.3689 , Claude Gerlach 483 Riverview Blvd. Springfield, OR 97477 Subject: Occupancy Inspection at 500 Main St. Proposed Use: Storage for household Furnishings Dear Mr, Gerlach, At your request, the Community Services Division/Building Safety conducted an inspection of the building at the above address, The purpose of the inspection was to determine the suitability of the building for the proposed use as indicated. Based on the proposed occupancy, the existing conditions which are mentioned below do not meet minimum Building Safety Code requirements. Corrective measures must be taken prior to occupancy to install, repair, replace or modify the following items in order for the building to conform to applicable safety codes: I, A complete floor plan for the upstairs area will be needed, showing the proposed use of each room, 2. Please provide a report prepared by a licensed engineer or architect showing tha~ the floor system is capable of meeting a I 25-pound per square foot load capacity. 3. Total occupant load cannot exceed nine occupants with a single exit to the ground floor, 4, The ends of the existing handrails shall be returned to the wall surface or terminate in an approved manner, 5, Install one class 2-A fire extinguisher for every 3000 square feet of building space, The distance to extinguishers should be no more than 75 feet. 6, The existing guardrail shall be 42 inches in height and intermediate members spaced so that a four inch sphere Will not pass through. 7. Additional lighting will be required, Consult Dave Gadomski, City Electrical Inspector, for placement of necessary fixtures, Remove unused light outlets and exposed wires or terminate injunction boxes. All electrical work must be performed by an Oregon licensed electrical contractor, ..' . , 8, All unused plumbing connections must be properly plugged or capped.
