The Downtown Sign District Is shown on Map No.1. Each business in this district shall be limited to two signs. (I) Wall Signs. Each business shall be limited to a maximum of one wall sign per building wall fronting a public street. (a) First Story Businesses. First story businesses facing a public street shall be permitted sign age of three square feet per lineal foot of building wall. (b) Second Story Businesses. Second story businesses facing a public street shall be pcrmltted sign age of 1 1/2 square feet per lineal foot of building wall. (2) Free Standing, Projecting or Roof Signs. Each building shall be permitted one free standing sign, projecting sign or roof sign which shall be limited to a maximum area of 80 square feet for one face and 160 square feet for two or more faces. The maximum height for free standing signs shall be 20 feet above grade. (3) Encroachment. The minimum height for all signs encroaching in the public right of way shall be eight feet above grade. The maximum encroachment Into the public right of way shall be six feet, provided that no sign shall encroach within two feet of any curb or driveway line. (4) Logos are exempt from pcrmlt requirements provided the logo is tbe logo of the business residing on the premlscs and provided thc total square footage of the permitted wall . . (Section 8.250 amcnded by Ordinance No. 5862, enacted September 15, 1997; further amended by Ordinance No. 6008, enacted March 18,2002.) 8.218 General. (7) Insurance. (a) Every property owner or designee who applies for a permit to erect, alter, or maintain 8 sign which projects more than 12 inches over public property, shall file with the Building Official copies of their public liability and property damage insurance policies. These policies shall be maintained in full force and effect during the time the sign remains over public property. Publl( liability insurance shall not be less than $300,000 for injuries, which includes accidental death to any person. The policy shall contain a requirement of notice of cancellation to the city. (b) Any sign company erecting a sign owned by the company shall comply with Section 8.218. (Section 8.218 amended hy Ordinance No. 6008, enacted March 18,2002.) To Request an inspection call the 24 hour recording at 726-3769. All inspection requested before 7:00 a.m. will be made the same working day, inspections requested after 7:00 a.m. will be made the following work day. 1 Sign Attachment: Method of mounting the sign to a structure or pole.
