The purpose of this , . - 'evaluation was to determine the suitability of the s~e for construction of the propos8d\conventlonally framed~,.,. structures on cast..in-place concrete spread footlnas and to make recommendations for preparation of the IIi' foundation pad. FOUNDATION PREPARATION The site Is located on a flat lot south of Main Street off of a new extension of Aster Street There were no signs of significant unstable areas (tension cracks, depressions, scarps) at the time of our inspection or during excavation, SOils at the site consisted of 1.0 to 1.5..1eet of loose brown organIc SILTS (topsoil) over 1.5 to 2.5-189t of brown, moderately dense, damp, moderately plastic Sll T over tan/orange..stained. very stiff to hard, very weathered tuffaceous SILTSTONE. The brown, moderately plastic si~s are slightly to moderately expansive. Groundwater was not encountered in the excavation. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS The foundation pad, as prepared. Is suitable to support the cast-In-place concrete spread footings without signIficant heaving but with good bearing capacity (1,500 pounds par square foot allowable bearing capacity). We recommend 8ccaptllftCe of lite foundation pad, &11 prepared, by tho City 01 Springfield Building Official.
