RE: Aggregate Compaction Evaluation
Louis McClain
Lot 43 - South Hills North Subdivision
Springfield, Oregon
On November 5, 2002 representatives from Ford~Ness-Fassbender, Inc. VISited the subject site
to assess the bUilding pad conditIons with respect to the relative compaction of the aggregate
cover.
SIte testing of the %"-0 crushed aggregate from Spnngfield Quarry indicates that the thickness
of aggregate ranges from 6-inches up to 3-feet in the northeast portion of the site. The
aggregate has been compacted to at least 95% of the matenals maximum dry density of 133.5
pet ilS determined by AASHTO T -99 method. The subgrade and aggregate fill are suitable for
conventional residential style perimeter footing construction We recommend that all footings
be remforced With at least two #4 steel reinforcing bars, and that surface water be directed away
from the foundations and not allowed to pond adjacent to footing. Installation of upslope footing
drains IS recommended and should be oullet to a proper point of dIspOSal, and sUlface dramage
should be routed around the building pad. We do not recommend allowing dump-trucks,
concrete- trucks or other heavy equipment onto the building pad during wet weather
Sincerely,
Ford-Ness-Fassbender Inc.
