Field Observations and Comments
PSI representatIve performed In-place nuclear density testing of the first 11ft of native soil structural fill south of curb
on Ambleslde at lots 132/133, 134/135, 136/137, 138/139 Based on the newly avaIlable proctor curve for the
material of 97.5 Ibs/cu ft @ 26 5% mOisture, this 11ft was unacceptable The measured dry densities were below the
Job specification of 95% of the theoretical maximum dry density and mOIsture contents were above the theoretIcal
optimum mOIsture Field density test results Will be reported under separate cover.
~enterllne Construction foreman, Mike Kirkpatrick was informed of these results He indicated that ripping this lift up
nd hydrating it continuously until the correct mOisture condition could be achieved by tomorrow morning
Observed proofroll with a fully loaded single axle water truck weighing approximately 40,000 pounds of a previously
failing area which had been overexcavated approximately 3 2 feet below subgrade and backfilled with Springfield
Quarry 3/4"-0 crushed rock, as per Glenn Ling's (project engineer) instruction. The area proofrolled was between
approximately Sta 2+45 and 3+00 referenced to Ambleslde Drive just south of the lot line boundary The area

proofrolled was approximately 20 feet Wide. The eastern approximately 25 feet of this area failed proofroll based on
excessive rutting and severe deflection Mike Kirkpatrick indicated that this area would be overexcavated and
backfilled with crushed rock, and would be ready for proofroll testing the follOWing morning.
