Dear Mr. Rogers
I have reviewed the engineering analysis for the Sunrise Fiberglas
building which you submitted to this office. The analysis was prepared by
Edward A. Wiltsie, a registered engineer with the State of washington.
The building involved is a fiberglass structure located at the above
address which did not appear to meet the minimum state of oregon
structural Specialty Code requirements for snow and wind loading.
,
The analysis selected a "fixed base" condition as the basis for design
calculations. This condition included a treated timber sill to be molded
into the base of the building, and an increase in the depth of the 1"
ribs to 2" at the slab by tapering the ribs in the bottom 28" of the side
walls. The analysis indicates this design together with a slight
thickening of the fiberglass skin at the top section of the building
would aequately support the required loads.
The structure located upon your property does not conform to the
analysis which you submitted. An alternate base condition was fabricated
into the structure by the use of 3" square vertical stiffeners randomly
spaced at 32-60" intervals in the lower 28" of the walls instead of the
tapered thickening of the ribs, Also, the required molded-in timber sill,
which appears to be necessary for the fixed base condition, is missing at
the bottom of the side walls, There is no substantiating documentation
in the data which was submitted that supports the revised fabrication.
Based upon the information submitted to this office, the building which
is located on your propertyldoes not appear to meet applicable building
code requirements for snow and wind loading conditions as required by the
State of oregon. Subsequently, the structure cannot be approved by this
office as complying with Code requirements until proper data reflecting
the actual building design is submitted.
Sincerely,
/~tftU-
