III. Applicant to sign and date
Whenever possible, the initial application will be used as
a worksheet only. Where possible, Building Division Staff
will prepare a type written copy and return it to the
applicant at the time the actual permit is issued for his
signature.
IV. Fees and Charges
Plan check fees are due and payable at the time of the
application, and no plans will be processed until these
fees are paid. All other fees and charges are due and
payable when the penmit is issued.

REPORT OF: Structural Welding Inspection
PROJECT: Winston Clothing Store
INSPECTION DATES: March 12, April 4, 10, & 15, 1985

SUPPLIER/CONTRACTOR: Powell's Welding
March 12, 1985
Inspection was performed on field installation of the two sign frames and
supporting members. Welds were made by Barry L. Huffman using 5/64" E7l-Tll
electrodes. His certification follows this report.
Columns were fillet welded to beams or beam saddles at the base. Diagonal
T.S. 4" x 4" braces supporting the upright frame were fillet welded at both ends
to columns and beams. Beam saddles were butt welded to the connecting plates.
A 11 welds met or exceeded the 3/16" requi rement and conformed to the qua 1 ity
criteria of AWS 01.1-85 after minor repairs were completed.
April 4, 1985
The canopy wall bracing on the west, south and portions of the east wall
was inspected on this date. Welds on angle braces at corner connections and
along the base of the east wall were also checked.
According to the contractor, all welds were to be 3/16" butt or fillet
welds. The diagonal braces were only to be welded to one panel to permit
thermal expansion.
Inspection revealed several welds with discontinuities and insufficient
size. These areas will be reinspected after repair.

Welds requiring repair were inspected and approved. Field welds on both
short walls on the east end were completed and met the requirements of AWS 01.1-85.
April 15, 1985
All remaining welding was completed by this date. Welds on the bracing for
the north and east walls were inspected and approved. Certification data for
all field welders employed on this project follows this report.
