Kristi is known for high quality customer service. This is demonstrated by la citizen initiated letter of
appreciation she received in February 2002 highlighting Kristi's "rapid anq efficient response" to a
request for a street light. !

Kristi worked closely with Councilor L~le Hatfield during the public involvement process and later design
of Springfield's first roundabout at 58t Street and Thurston Road. Kristi also managed the construction

contract, inspected the work, and once again demonstrated her excellent 'customer service during that
project. One of the corner property owners was strongly against the project due to the corner of their
property that was purchased to facilitate theconstruction. They worked against the project and right of
way purchase negotiations were difficult and protracted. Kristi worked during the design process and
later during construction with the owners and developed a positive relationship with the property owners.
At the conclusion of the project the property owners sent Kristi a bouquet :of flowers and a card to
express their appreciation for how little impact the project had upon them 'and that they felt valued and
respected by Kristi in the process. I.

Kristi has wide ranging capabilities. During the Martin Luther King Jr. ParKway project Kristi managed the
sound wall and landscaping elements in addition to functioning as project !manager of the Transportation
Division's responsibilities. Most recently she has taken on the City's project management function for the
Lane Transit District Pioneer Parkway EmX Corridor Project. I
A bit of humor: shortly after Kristi was hired Brian Barnett received a call from a passing motorist who
"wanted to let us know that there was a kid messing with the traffic signal !and why the City was allowing
this to happen!" On rare occasion the cabinet doors popped open and kids would poke around the
controller cabinet. Brian didn't know what they might be talking about and (asked for a description of the
location of the kid. The motorist replied "it's on Centennial near 5th Street ~nd the little girl has strait blond
hair and is wearing an orange vest". Brian realized that this was an'area ~risti was working and informed
the motorist that the little girl, Kristi, was a graduate engineer and was authorized to work on traffic
signals. And ever since we have known why the public thinks timing traffiq signals is child's play!
