SUBJECT: Grease Trap Inspection At

Dear Sirs:
On December 9, 1980 the City of Springfield Building Division made a
grease trap inspection at the above referenced address. The following
items were found to be in violation of Section 711 (a, c, d, 9, & h),
of the Plumbing Specialty Code. (P.S.C.):
1. The grease interceptor is not properly installed and should be reces-
sed into the floor so that the lid may be removed and periodic removal of
accumulated grease can be accomplished without removal of related sinK
piping and grease trap. (P~S.C, 711-g & h)
2. A,B.S. plastic and couplings can be used in residential type construc-'
tion only. All related piping is to be galvanized, copper or'cast iron
no hub pipe and fittings. (P.S.C. 401-2)
3. The grease interceptor or sink is required to have an approved type
flow control or restricting device installed to limit flow to 20 gallons
per minute or to the rating of the grease trap installed. (P.S.C. 711-d)
4. The sewage pump lift station serving the hotel complex has a large
accumulation of grease. To prevent possible stoppages, the grease trap
will need immediate repairs and cleaning every 30 days, or more often
if necessary. The 6 month cleaning schedule is not adequate for the
amount of grease accumulated for this structure. (P.S.C. 711-~ & h)
All necessary permits shall be obtained before work starts and all work
shall be inspected by this office.
