RE: Proposed Sign
Dear Larry:
I am returning your application for the proposed freestanding sign to be located at 3185 Gateway Street,
Springfield, Oregon,
The sign which you are proposing exceeds the size allowed in a Neighborhood Commercial Sign District
(NC), Section 9-7-13 states, in part, that each development area in a NC District shall be allowed one
freestanding sign not to exceed 32 square feet per sign face, with a maximwn size of 64 square feet for two
or more faces, The sign cannot exceed 8 feet in height above grade and cannot be internally iIlwninated. I
am enclosing a copy of this section of the Code for your information.
The sign that you are proposing is 36 square feet, 19 feet in height, and is internally illuminated. Our
records also show that there is an additional freestanding sign on the .......... which is used by a nwnber of
businesses at the above mentioned location, In order to install the sign you are ...... ..ing, the sign would
need to be reduced both in size and height, not be internally iIlwninated, and the other existing freestanding
sign would need to be removed.
