The referenced plans have been ~eviewed for conformance with the City of Springfield Building Safety and Fire and Life Safety Codes. The following items ~equire correction, clarification or additional detailing before they can be app~oved fo~ construction: 1. The cor~ido~ p~oviding exiting fo~ the office/t~aining/stock~oom a~eas has been satisfacto~ily ~evised to p~ovide fo~ prope~ egress f~om these areas. Howeve~, doors serving the office/t~aining a~eas a~e not specified as 20 minute fi~e ~esistive assemblies. It appea~s that you~ intent was to use exception 5 of Sec. 3305(g) of the St~uctu~al Specialty Code in lieu of the fi~e resistive ~equi~ement. THIS CODE EXCEPTION REQUIRES SMOKE DETECTORS TO BE INSTALLED WITHIN THE CORRIDOR AND CONNECTED TO AN APPROVED FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA NO. 72-A. 2. Door #71 is shown to swing in the wrong di~ection for exiting f~om the office a~eas. 3. New moto~' oil and .waste oil sto~age tanks a~e shown in the ti~e sto~age area. The'moto~ oil is classified as a Class II combustible liquid, but,the waste oil mus~ be classified as a Class I flammable liquid as specified by Sec. 79.907{b) of the Fire and L1fe Safety Code. All tanks exceed the quantity allowed fo~ unp~otected storage and handling of these.liquids, and they shall be enclosed in a liquid sto~age' ~oom designed and const~ucted to meet the ~equi~ements fo~ a G~oup H, Division 2 occupancy, including all ~equirements of Sec.902 (c) of the St~uctu~al Specialty Code and Chapte~ 79 of the Fi~e and Life Safety Code. These ~equi~ements include: a. 1 h~. occupancy separation f~om the adjoining occupancies. b. Containment cu~bs to p~event the sp~ead of spills. c. Mechanical ventilation to p~oduce a minimum of four air changes ,pe~' hou~. . e d. Explosion relief venting if the crankcase oil is a Class I-A liquid (provide an acceptable laboratory report establishing the classification of common crankcase oil). e. The tanks shall be vented in accordance with the requirements for portable tanks (Sec. 79.104) or stationary tanks, (Sec. 79.301) in the Fire and Life Safety Code. 4. All three doors which serve the Tire Storage Room, are overhead door assemblies. These doors shall not be used as the required exit (Sec. 3304(g}of the Structural Specialty Code). Provide an approved exit for this area; 5. Please submit copies of the Fixture Plans, PS-l, 2 &3 for our review of exit aisle widths, etc. as soon as they are available.
