Miscellaneous Structural Items
Dear ~1 r. Miller:
During the framing inspection on the su bject residence today. a few itenlS
were found to be in question,
1. The PAl8 hold down anchors shown on sheet S2.0 of the approved drawings
were not installed. The structural calculations for the building sbow that
hold downs capable of resisting 60011 and 10011 of uplift are required at shear
walls SW6 & SWl respectively' (14 locations). Attached is the design for an
alternative hold down to correct this deficienc~'. This hold down is capable
of resisting 700# of upW't and can be installed in the structure as it is now
framed.
2, Hold downs are not required at the front of the garage as there are no shear
walls in this location. the anchor bolts which are installed are adequate to
resist the wind load at the base of the wal],
3, Reference the general notes on sheet No, 35 of the structural calculations:
a) Double studs (king studs) at the jambs are not required because in this
particular case the truss bottom chord connections to the to the tops of the
beams provides the required resistance to the wind load.
b) Double studs (trimmers) are not required under the beams because the
beam 5upport i5 provided by the plate connection between the beams and
stu.ds.
c) Mid height structural blocking is not required because the horizontal

I hope that this an$Wers ~'our questions and addresses ~'our concerns. If
you require further clarification. please do not hesitate to call,
