HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 14 Correspondence from Dixie Thorste, Springfield, Regarding Possible Relocation of Mobile Homes from Patrician Mobile Home Park
. April 20,2008
Dear Springfield City Council Members,
I purchased my double wide mobile home in the Patrician Mobile Home Park at 3530 Game
Farm Rd in the city of Springfield in January of2006. When I purchased my home I had to go to
a private lender, I borrowed $35,000.00 on which I still owe $31,620.00.
My home is assessed at $27,277.00 and I am paying taxes of $439.00 every year, and I am to
receive $7000.00 compensation for relocating. How can I relocate and live when I am only
getting a minimal amount for my home and still have a balance owing on my home which I am
obligated to repay. As it is I am 72 years young and still working full time to support myself and
not be a burden to my children.
I understand that I can not move my home because of the age of the home (1970).
Most of the homes in the park of an age where they cannot be moved, and that puts a lot of
seniors, including my self, that are going to lose our homes. There are a lot of elderly residents in
the park that are in poor health. Is the City of Springfield going to take care of them?
The Patrician Park was recently sold to a developer who is working with the city of Springfield
to develop the property into a hotel and conference center. With the threat of an eviction notice
in my future and getting a mere $7000.00 for relocation I keep wondering how I am going to
repay my lender the balance owing on my home
Sincerely
~ liL~.
