Dear Ms. Crittenden:
'Ihe City of Springfield welcomes your new business. I would like to take a
,,~.o;ut of your time to inform you of sane of the requiranents the City of
Springfield has with regard to building and zcning.
1. Should you decide to install a sign( s) advertising your business, the City
of Springfield requires you obtain pennits. Pennit fees are based upcn
the value of the sign(s) you. "~""'k^'se to install. 'Ihe .City also has a Sign
COOe which regulates the number and size of signs you can have.
Please contact Sally Jdmson for further information regarding signs.
2. '!he Building Safety Division can perform an Cccupancy In.,>",,~.ion of your
building. 'Ihis inspection is not required, ha.vever, is encouraged as the
inspectors will insure your. stJ0lctural, plunbing, electrical and
mechanical system; meet the minimum requiranents for your proposed use.
'!here is a $35.00 inspection fee.
3. Should you decide to make any structura.l, plunbing, electrical or
mechanical alterations or additions to the building, you shall be required
to:
a. Apply for building related pennits.
b. Apply for site..plan review prior to subnitting building permits if you
decide to exp3.I1d your building by :00 square feet or rrore.
4. 'Ihe Springfield Developnent Code, Article 18, Section 18.110 (7) requires
that "'Ihe activities of auction businesses, flea markets, liquidation
outlets, second-hand stores and pawn shops shall occur entirely
indoors,...". 'Ihis,equiranent applies to your business and.prohibits any
outside display or storage of merchandise. Your anticipated c:anpliance
with this code provision is appreciated.
