(503) 726-6803 December 13, 1985 Mr. David Puent City of Springfield Office of Community & Economic Development Planning & Development Department Springfield, OR 97477 Re: Fairview Mobile Home Park Building Permit #840738 Dear Mr. Puent: We have received a letter from Lorne Pleger of the Building Safety Division indicating that our building permit expired on August 27, 1985. I guess we need to plead both ignorance and hardship. First, we were unaware that if our building permit, originally granted for a 180 day period, expired prior to the granting of an extension for another 180 day period, we would have to start allover again and go through the formality of plan review. If this was explained to us at the time we purchased our building permit none of us could remember that. Also, our building permit was purchased on the last day of February and about three weeks later I had a major heart attack and was incapacitated for some weeks after. I know this stopped progress of any kind at our mobile home park for any of us. We simply did not know what the future held at that time, and progress on an expansion was pushed from our minds. Between the uncertainty of my own physical condition and the already poor economy, pouring money. and energy into our park became less appealing. I think we all feel more secure now, and I am fully recovered and can take over leadership of our partnership again. At this time, then, we would like to renew our building permit and get going on our project. We hope you can look favorably upon our request.
