It has recently come to our attention that the barn a~~1 Laura Street, Springfield,
qregon continues to be in violation of the Springfield Zoning Code relative to required
.. setbacks for structures that house livestock. Please refer to the attached Section
14.04 C. 2. of the Zoning Code.
The original front portion of the barn which is built on a slab was probably erected
before the property 'was annexed into the City. This portion of the barn, classified
as a non-conforming structure because it is not 20' from the property line, may not
be enlarged or altered. Information submitted to us reveals that this existing non-
conforming barn has been enlarged, without building permits, after the property was
annexed into the City. The new portion of the barn is located very near, if not .
directly on, the northerly side property line and is supported by pier pads as opposed
to the slab system of the original barn.
The new portion of the barn must be completelv removed by thirty. (30) days from the
date of this letter (October 8, 1982). An inspection of the barn wi 11 be conducted
on October II, 1982. If the barn has not been removed to comply with the Zoning Code,
the matter wi II be promptly referred to the office of the City Attorney in order to
secure compliance through appropriate legal measures. Your antlcipated.cooperation

For your information, enclosed are excerpts from the Springfield Zoning Code relative
to permitted accessory structures in Low Denslty'Residential (RL) Districts and non-
conforming structures. Please direct all inquiries to the Springfield Building Divi-
sion at 726-3753.
