Subject: Housing Inspection at 1941 Laura Street, Springfield, Oregon.
Dear Ms. McDonald and Mr. Harris,
At your request, the Community Services Division/Building Safety conducted a Housing Inspection at
the above address on June 26, 1997. The inspection revealed items which do not meet the minimum
City Housing Code requirements and must be corrected. They consist of the following:
STRUCTURAL
I. Smoke detectors shall be installed in each sleeping room, outside of each separate sleeping area in
the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the dwelling, including
basements and eellars,
2. All egress or rescue windows from sleeping rooms must have a net clear opening of 5.7 square
feet. The minimum net clear opening height shall be 22 inches. The minimum net clear opening
width shall be 20 inches. Minimum window sill height shall be no more than 44 inches.
Building permits must be obtained for the above items which involve repairs or modifications to the
structural, electrieal, plumbing or mechanical systems of the building and for any additions or
revisions you wish to make to the building.
