HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 03 Earth Day Poster Contest Awards April 21, 2008 Springfield Upbeat Earth Day Poster Contest (Rachael Chilton - presenter) The 2nd Annual City of Springfield 5th Grade Earth Day Poster contest was a great success. In honor of Earth Day 2008 5th graders in the Springfield School District were challenged to draw "The Environment of the Future." In order to stimulate their thought process they were asked a few questions. What will earth look like in 50 years? What would they like earth to look like in 50 years? What are some things they could do to help protect the environment for future generations? We received over 250 entries, making it very difficult to choose the winners. How are you going to do your part? The winning artists will be invi ted to an awards ceremony hosted by the Mayor during the pril 21 st City Council meeting. The winning entries will be on display in the City Hall lobby through the month of May. Contest Rules Entries must be the original artwork of a 5th grade student. Entries must be on the 11 x 17 inch paper provided. Student name, teacher, and school must be provided so winners can be contacted. By submitting artwork, the artist grants the City of Springfield permission to reproduce his or her artwork and name for the Earth Day poster contest and other educational activities. o o o Entries can be dropped off at Springfield City Hall,.
