Attn: Mr. Dan Leahy C. .: At your request, the Springfield BuildIng Safety DivisioD recently conducted a housing inspection at the above address. The inspection revealed items of concern which do not meet the minimum City Housing Code requirements and must be corrected. They consist of the following: Structural 1. An acceptable means of secoDdary fire egress is required for all rooms used for sleeping purposes. The existing windows iD the bedrooms comply with the requirements for egress openings except that the height of the window sill above the interior floor or platform of such opening shall be no greater than 44 inches. Electrical 2. The exposed electrical w1r1Dg at the water heater that is susceptible to physical damage shall be protected in an approved manner. Flexible electrical conduit or an equivalent type of protective enclosure is recommended. Electrical connections shall be made inside the water heater junctioD box. 3. Electrical light fixture in the garage has a loose connection which shall either be repaired or the fixture shall be replaced. 4. The electrical wiring that is exposed and susceptible to physical damage in the kitchen where the baseboard heater was removed shall be protected by a junction box or a replacemeDt heater shall be installed. 5. Replace the hall receptacle with an ungrounded type receptacle or inatall a ground wire for the present receptacle. 6. The heater located in the living room is inoperable. However, work on alterations to and repla~~~~t of parts for electrical devices which is necessary for maintenance of existiDg electrical installations may be dODe by the owner of ' the property.
